About Kairos

Built from the classroom, for the classroom.

Kairos was founded by Tharun De Silva, a pre-primary school teacher and business graduate, to bring world-class early learning technology to Sri Lankan educators, children, and families.

Founder, Kairos

Kairos began with a question Tharun De Silva could not ignore.

As a pre-primary school teacher, Tharun spent his days inside the real rhythm of early childhood education — the observations, the small breakthroughs, the emotional moments, the parent conversations, the planning, and the documentation that often continued long after the children had gone home.

With a background in business, he also saw the system behind the classroom: how much time educators lose to repeated paperwork, how difficult it can be for directors to see what is happening across a centre, and how easily meaningful moments in a child’s day can disappear if they are not captured properly.

While teaching, Tharun kept thinking about children and educators back home in Sri Lanka.

Why should world-class early learning tools only be available in some places? Why should Sri Lankan educators carry the same workload with fewer systems around them? Why should parents miss out on seeing the beautiful learning moments that happen every day?

Kairos was created from that gap.

It is not being built to replace educators. It is being built to protect their time, strengthen their professional voice, and help centres communicate children’s learning with more clarity, beauty, and care.

The mission is simple: give Sri Lankan early childhood education access to technology that feels modern, ethical, human, and worthy of the children it serves.

Kairos starts in Sri Lanka — but it is being built with global ambition.

Why Kairos exists

The gap we’re building to close.

Educators carry too much invisible work

Classroom hours rarely end when the children leave. Documentation, planning, and parent communication continue late into the day.

Learning moments deserve to be captured beautifully

Small breakthroughs, friendships, and discoveries happen daily. Without the right tools, they slip away unrecorded.

Parents deserve clearer communication

Routine logistics are not enough. Families want to feel close to their child’s growth and learning journey.

Directors need centre-wide visibility

Across rooms and across the week, leaders need a calmer way to see where documentation is flowing and where it has slowed.

Sri Lankan early learning deserves global-standard tools

Tharun kept asking why these systems were not available to children and educators back home. Kairos is the answer.

Care is non-negotiable

Whatever we build must protect the human relationships at the heart of early childhood education.

What we believe

Five principles we will not bend.

  • 01

    Educators should stay in control.

  • 02

    AI should support, not replace.

  • 03

    Children’s data must be protected.

  • 04

Technology should feel calm, not overwhelming.

  • 05

Sri Lankan early childhood education deserves global-standard tools.

Why Sri Lanka first

Because this is where the need is personal.

Kairos starts in Sri Lanka because this is where the need is personal. The goal is not to copy international platforms. The goal is to build something that understands Sri Lankan early learning settings, communication in three languages, pre-primary workflows, and the realities educators face every day.

Kairos is being shaped alongside our founding pilot centres so the platform reflects how documentation actually flows in real classrooms — not how it is imagined to flow in a product spec.

If your centre wants calmer documentation, stronger family communication, and a more beautiful way to tell children’s learning stories, we would love to hear from you.
